Guide: Create a user in the app
To borrow a Freetrailer, you need to have a user account in the app.
If you don’t have one yet, simply create an account – it only takes a moment.
With a user account, you can:
- Reserve and borrow a trailer.
- View your reservations in the app.
- Save your information to make future bookings faster.
How to create a user account:
- Open the app.
- Tap “Create account”.
- Enter your information and follow the steps on the screen.
Once your account has been created, simply log in with your mobile number and password the next time you need to borrow a trailer.

Your Freetrailer rental in five simple steps
Step 1.
Log in and find your Freetrailer
- Log in to the app: To use Freetrailer, log in to your profile (via your phone number). Then you can easily manage your Freetrailer reservations.
Have you booked online? Remember to log in. If you don’t have a profile yet, please create one. - Find a Freetrailer: Use the map in the app to see where there is a Freetrailer near you. You can also search through our different Freetrailer products to find the one that best suits your needs.
- Make a reservation: Choose the trailer that suits your needs now and select direct pickup – for free. You can also pre-book a Freetrailer for a small booking fee. If you have already reserved a trailer, you will find it under “reservations”.
- Your Freetrailer is ready: Once your rental period begins, you can drive to your chosen rental location and pick-up your Freetrailer.
Step 2.
Location and Bluetooth
- The app as a key: In order for the app to give you access to a Freetrailer in your area, you need to allow location services and Bluetooth functionality.
- Share your location: When using the app for the first time, you will be asked for permission to share your location. Please select “Allow while using the app”.
- Enable Bluetooth: In order to use the Bluetooth lock on your Freetrailer, you need to give the app permission to use your Bluetooth. Simply select “OK” when the app requests access.
- Your app is now ready: Now you can easily use the app as your digital key. Your location helps to find an available Freetrailer nearby, and the Bluetooth functionality allows you to access it.
Step 3.
Pick up your Freetrailer
- Pickup: When you arrive at the pickup location, find your Freetrailer by matching the number on the trailer with the one in your reservation.
- Unlock with the app: You use the app to unlock and rent the trailer. Tap “pick up” in the app when you are ready to pick up.
- The app guides you: With simple steps, the app guides you through your pickup to ensure your Freetrailer is ready for use.
- Get going: Once you’ve hooked your Freetrailer to your car, you’re good to go!
Step 4.
Use your Freetrailer
- For your use: The Freetrailer is available during your chosen rental period.
- Safety and responsibility: Remember to use the Freetrailer sensibly and drive safely. This is how we ensure that everyone can enjoy the trailer after you.
- Return: Before the reservation period expires, you must return to your rental location to return the trailer.
- Need more time? You can extend your rental period through the app for a small fee. However, this is only possible if the trailer is not already reserved for others after you.
Step 5.
Return your Freetrailer
- Returning: Tap “Return now” in the app to return the trailer. Leave the trailer in the same place you picked it up and remember to place it properly.
- Good condition? Return the trailer in good condition with a clean cargo space. Follow the steps in the app for proper return.
- Return in the app: Just like pickup, the return is done through the app. The trailer is only considered returned once you complete the return in the app. Follow the steps and lock the trailer to finish your rental.
- Thank you for renting: Once you have received a receipt for your return, your rental is successfully completed. Thank you for using Freetrailer!
