Freetrailer Group A/S and the DIY chain Silvan A/S are extending and expanding their cooperation to include Freetrailer’s bicycle concept with the Smart Charging System (SCS) self-service system. Furthermore, 200 Silvan car trailers have been redesigned to support sustainable behaviour.
Freetrailer and Silvan have been working together since 2010, and the rental portfolio has been continuously expanded to the current more than 500 rental trailers, and as something new, now also more than 45 Freetrailer cargo bikes with Freetrailer’s self-service system – Smart Charging System (SCS). Freetrailer will thus take over the supply of cargo bikes to Silvan’s customers.
At the same time, Freetrailer has just replaced 200 Silvan car trailers in 41 warehouses across the country with a new and groundbreaking design. The new trailers are designed as sustainable moving boxes that can be purchased in Silvan. Silvan’s moving boxes are made of wood fibre from FSC-certified forests in Sweden. According to Trine Bredow, Project Manager, Commercial Excellence at Silvan, the trailer design is intended to raise awareness of the possibility of moving a little greener.
The very special wood fibres that have been used for Silvan's moving boxes come from forestry where wildlife is protected and never more is felled than the forest can reproduce. In this way, we can offer Danes a green and sustainable moving box when moving or when storage is just needed. The design of the trailers should remind us of this in everyday life, says Trine Bredow.

Over time, thousands of free trailer loans have been made from Silvan’s warehouses. Freetrailers Group CEO, Philip Filipsen sees the new trailers as a lever to accelerate the sharing economy in Denmark even further.
“The sharing economy and sustainability are high on our agenda, and it permeates virtually everything we do here at Freetrailer. In that light, it’s simply fantastic to have a partner like Silvan who dares to think outside the box and come up with creative, fun and environmentally friendly initiatives to benefit customers. With the new trailers, we are taking another big step in speeding up the eco-sharing economy in Denmark, and that is really positive. At the same time, I am proud that Silvan has now also decided to use Freetrailer’s Cargo Bike concept as another green initiative for the benefit of Silvan’s many customers”, says Group CEO at Freetrailer Philip Filipsen.
